Imam Khomeini ‘promoted religious democracy’

TEHRAN, Oct. 24 (MNA) – Iran's Hassan Rouhani has told people in Khomein a firm belief in independence, freedom, and Islamic Republic constituted the nature of being ‘revolutionary.’

Speaking among the people of Khomein, Imam Khomeini's birthplace in Markazi province on Monday, which is his 32nd provincial tour, Mr. Rouhani pointed to the thoughts of Imam Khomeini saying, "thanks to the ideas and thoughts of Imam Khomeini (RA) the Islamic Republic is known as a role model around the world."

“Imam Khomeini promoted Islamic brand of the arts including music and singing; he also fostered unity of the Seminary schools and universities,” Rouhani told the welcoming crowd. “Imam Khomeini granted right to vote for Iranian women for their own political life and to study at universities like men; under the Islamic Sharia, he revived the dignity of women.”

"Imam Khomeini opened the path to progress for Islamic civilization and all our greetings to the dear great soul of his who had clearly shown us the true Islam and democracy," Rouhani stressed. “He taught us how to keep our national self-confidence, stand against the superpowers of East and West, and win.”

Rouhani also declared that Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei also guided Iranian diplomats to act heroically during nuclear negotiations with the world to challenge and finally discredit 6 cruel resolutions against Iran.

Elsewhere in his speech, Rouhani highlighted positive results of implementation of JCPOA; "today, we have established relationships with the banks across the world, removing 10 per cent transfer share of money from the pockets of middlemen; sanctions on Iran's petrochemical production have been removed and we can substantially improve exports of petrochemical products and imports of precious metals, which is a source of honor and achievement as trade liberalization for us; we cut inflation rate of 40 per cent down to 15 per cent; we improved a minus 6.8 per cent economic growth of 2012 up to 3 per cent in 2014."

"Iran's trade and commercial ties with the world are growing every day and the factories and firms one after another are recovering from the recession," he rejoiced to say.

Concluding his remarks, Rouhani said Markazi province had enough capacity to attract domestic and foreign tourists; "here is the birthplace of Imam Khomeini and should be turned into a great national shrine in Iran. Markazi province and city of Khomein should be prepared for attracting tourists and visitors,” he told the crowd.
